This is the 2nd test match of the year 2007 India cricket tour to South Africa started on 2nd January at Newlands, Cape Town. This was turning to be an ordinary test cricket day on a flat track. India won the toss and opted to bat first. Dinesh Karthik, who comes in place of injured Dhoni, joined with Jaffer to start Indian innings and they comes up with the highest opening partnership for india in South Africa, put 153 on the board. After very hard work for first two session, third one coming out to be batter for South Africa and they manage to take 3 wickets. In the end Tendulkar was looking good and lets hope for a batter innings from him before the forthing world cup. Finally India were 254/3 at the end of the first day of 3rd test match of the tour.

It was superb bowling from Paul Harris and Shaun Pollock on the slow wicket. India failed to make big score as they truble after fantastic start of their innings. They lost thier last 5 wicket in just 19 runs and collapsed to 414/10 from 395/5. A positive start from Smith(76*) lead South Africa fight back in the game. There was nice support from Amla (50*) after loosing de Villiers early and they manage to put South Africa at 144/1 at the end of the day.

South Africa started the day comfortably with Smith playing an important innings before he was caught brilliently by Sehwag. This was the 9th victims by Kumble in 90s equals the Kapil Dev's records in test match. Kallis(54) and Prince(26) started playing quite sensibly after Amla(63) dismissed Immediately following Smith. They added an important 83 in the total before Tendulkar dismissed danger looking Kalis. The game turn around on Indias way when they loose 3 wickets in just 21 runs and collapsed to 281/6 from 260/3. But an important 69 run stand between Pollock and Boucher lead South Africa to the comperative total. In the end they loose thier last 3 wickets in just 1 run gap and India manage to lead by 41 runs, could be the crucial one.

It was very poor batting performance from India and superb bowling from South Africa manage to restrict India on just 169. With an easy target of 211 on the flat wicket, South Africa started their innings quite comfortably before they loose 2 wickets at the end of the day.

Smith and Pollock started the day and their chase comfortably before the rain stopped the play. Smith looks aggresive to an indian pace-spin attack when play resumes after the rain. Removal of Smith and Pollock in short period by Zaheer changed the flavour of the game little. But then Kallis and Prince made no further mistakes and steadily took South Africa to the victory before Zaheer removed Kallis just 1 run short to beat india. Zaheer has bowled remarkably well today but there was no support from the other end. Finally all-rounder performance from South Africa team took them to the match and the series win.
