This was the 5th and the last test match of Ashes cricket tour 2006/07 and the first test match of year 2007, started on 2nd January at Sydney. Langer, Warne and McGrath appearing for the last time in their test match cricket career. England won the toss and elected to bat first on delayed start of play due to rain. This was turning out to be an ordinary test cricket day with England put 234/4 on the board. For the third wicket partnership between Bell (71) and Pietersen (41) added 108. In the end Andrew Flintoff (42*) and Paul Collingwood (25*) sounds more confident and lead the score to 234/4.

England failed once again to take advantage of good start loosing thier remaining 6 wickets in morning session and collapsed to 291/10 from 245/5. Although superb innings from Flintoff(89) manage england to reach 291. Australia started thier innings comfortably with Langer looked somewhat in hurry playing in his last test match. Ponting(45) was looking nice and added 64 to the total with Hayden(33) before he runout. Then after loosing Clark(11) early Hussey(37*) and Symonds(22*) playing quite sensibly till the end of the day 2. Quite a mixed day for both the team and the match is turning out to be in an interesting position.

England in a big big trouble of the 3rd day, 5th Test Ashes cricket tour 2006/07. They are just 12 runs ahead in 2nd innings with loss of their top orders. It once again was the rocking cricket day for Australia from the begaining of the play of 3rd day. It was rocking innings from Warne(71), playing in his last Test Match, after crackling started by Symonds and Gilchrist. Was very good support from S Clark(35), they added valuable 68 to the score for 9th wicket. In the end they manage to put total of 393 with crucial lead of 102. England then started their innings with Cook falling very early on just 5 on the board. They never come back in the game as wickets are falling on regular interval. In the end they trumbling on 114/5 (Leading by 12 runs) in their second innings at the stumps on 3rd day.

Nothing worked out for England on the 4th day of 5th and the last match of the tour. Thir last hope Pietersen came to an end when he was out on very third ball of the day without adding anything to thier overnite score. Finally their innings come to an end on only 147 with Australia need just 46 to win the test match. Hayden and Langer, appearing as an opening pair for the last time, done the job in just 11 overs. Stuart Clark's declared Man of the Match. This is the end of Ashes cricket tour 2006/07 with Australia winning the Ashes by 5-0.
